Scarborough BEACH in Sumner is the safest beach in Christchurch for learning to surf and intermediate surf coaching.
Stoked big black surf trailer is located at the Cave Rock end of Scarborough beach ( as you drive into Sumner take the first left onto the Esplanade and you will see us next to "On the Beach " cafe)
Stoked Surf School run the majority of surfing lessons at Sumner beach down the southern end at Cave Rock.
Scarborough or Scar Super Bank as we like to call it is an ideal wave for beginners to intermediate surfers and is considered by expert surfers ( us!) as one of the best beaches in Christchurch for learning to surf. The wave at Sumner is relatively gentle and rolls into the shoreline providing many opportunities for beginners to learn the art of surfboard riding in a safe and fun environment.
During the summer season Sumner is a fully patrolled beach with a brand new surf club!
Scarborough also provides other great facilities at the clock tower including the Oceans Cafe and Bar for food coffees and ice cream, Scarborough Park and the Scarborough splash pad so there is plenty to do for the Family while the surf is ON!
Down the Stoked Surf School end is a great cafe "Beach" with a deck opening out onto the beach to watch the surf action ...
Stoked classes meet at the big black surf trailer located on the grassed area down the Cave Rock end of Sumner. Everything is provided for your surfing class, just bring togs and a towel and get ready for a lot of fun…
Although we are based at Sumner we are completely mobile and offer our school groups and after school surfing sessions the option of learning at a beach near the school.
North Canterbury Schools we meet at Waikuku, Pegasus Beach and Gore Bay and for South Canterbury we travel to Caroline Bay!
